José Miguel Ortiz, MCE, PE, SE is the Director of the CPH Structural group—of which he was the founding member in 2014 and has now grown to ten members in CPH USA and Puerto Rico. José Miguel is a graduate of Universidad de Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus (BS) and Cornell University (MS), and was recognized by the “Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico” as one of the emerging leaders in engineering (40 under 40) in 2006. In his 27 professional years he has made a name for himself in structural design, construction inspection/oversight, historic restorations, structural retrofit/repair, seismic retrofit, structural assessments, and post-disaster assessments (earthquake, hurricane, fire) among other specialties. José Miguel has been a part of many successful projects, including the McDonald’s Sunny Side Up at Disney Springs, Florida, which won the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) IDEAS2 Merit Based Award in 2021 for the structural steel design. |
